Russian emergency officials say a small private plane has crashed near St. Petersburg killing all four aboard. The regional Emergency Ministry branch said that the Yak-18 plane crashed Saturday near the town of Ropsha, some 50 kilometers south-west of St. Petersburg. It said the crash was caused by a fire aboard.
The Yak-18 is a single-engine aircraft that has been widely used for training purposes since the Soviet era.
