Vice President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Junaid Esmail Makda has said that Pakistan was in dire need of market access to regional countries vis-à-vis India, Afghanistan, Central Asian Republics, Iran etc as the war against terror had brought severe hardships to Pakistan's economy and the international powers had not reciprocated in terms of market access.
He said that KCCI never believed in aid but has always voiced for trade to promote national economy. KCCI high-level business delegation headed by Junaid Esmail Makda met the High Commissioner of Pakistan in New Delhi Shahid Malik and briefed about the proposal given to Commerce Ministry of Pakistan to enhance the bilateral trade with India.
According to KCCI's press release, Junaid Makda informed High Commissioner that the Ministry of Commerce sought proposals from KCCI regarding the Trade Policy with specific input about trade with India and China. He said that a KCCI's proposal for trade policy was submitted to Secretary Commerce Zafar Mahmood with a detailed annexure on trade with India.
He informed that he was heading the KCCI delegation to India for advocacy to promote and strengthen bilateral trade ties and sign the agreement of cooperation with Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry to establish Bombay-Karachi Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry as desired by the two governments through respective commerce ministries. Junaid Makda said that KCCI every year compiles productive proposals regarding forthcoming federal budget and trade policy.-PR
