Man arrested after holding family hostage in Pindi

The police arrested on Saturday a man in an injured condition, after he had held 20 members of his family hostage and killed his father-in-law in Rawalpindi's Morgah Officer Colony.
According to local media reports, Abdul Rahim, aged around 30, is a drug addict who held his family on gun point the entire night. Although earlier reports suggested that the suspect was mentally unstable, the police later discovered that the suspect was actually a drug addict.
While holding the family hostage, Rahim shot dead his father-in-law early in the morning. According to his relatives, Rahim had tried to commit suicide on Friday morning by jumping from the roof of the house.
The police conducted an operation during which they used two tear gas shells. Rahim opened fire at the police and as a result, injured one of the policemen. The wounded cop is under treatment in a Rawalpindi hospital.
The house has been cleared after a search and all the hostages are now safe.
