UK's DFID to extend Rs 40 billion for education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The UK Department for International Development (DFID) will extend Rs 40 billion for education sector in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province. The matter was discussed during a meeting of DFID delegation with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Elementary & Secondary Education Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and Sardar Hussain Babak on Tuesday.
Members of the delegation Ms Bushra Zulfiqar Lead Advisor, Saiqa Khanwal Programme Manager and Asghar Ali Deputy Programme Manager, Director ESRU Riaz Bahar Akhunzada and Farid Ahmad Khattak Deputy Director ESRU also were present on this occasion. Appreciating the contribution of DFID and other donor agencies in education and developmental sectors in province, the Provincial Minister said that it was a great sign for extending financial assistance by donor agencies.
He asked the donor agencies to spend funds without involving other agencies in order to save overlapping of the funds. The Minister informed the delegation that they should visit the projects' sites and get themselves acquainted with the details. He said the government would provide all funds spending on the project. He alleged that those who are criticising the government are enemies of the province, which aims to stop foreign Aid.
He said the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province is hard hit by terrorism as well as natural disaster and its people are in need of support of the world community adding that they should come forward in hour of our trial. He said his government is grateful to donor agencies for their support and hoped that the world community would come forward and help us out of our difficulties.
