Timely disbursement of financial assistance among the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) beneficiary families was a crucial task which Pakistan Post accomplished with complete responsibility, said Farzana Raja, Chairperson BISP here on Tuesday.
"Pakistan Post played a key role in reaching the BISP beneficiaries and without its assistance success of BISP was not possible," Farzana said while talking to Sardar Muhammad Umer Khan Gorgej, Federal Minister for Postal Service, who met her at BISP Secretariat on Tuesday. Raja M Ikram-ul-Haq, Secretary/DG Postal Services was also present on the occasion.
The BISP Chairperson lauded Gorgej for taking effective measures to improve the delivery mechanism of the BISP financial assistance among the beneficiary families. It may be recalled here that Pakistan Post is a major source for distribution of financial assistance through money orders at the door steps of the beneficiary families. However, some complaints regarding inefficient delivery often surface at the lower level.
Farzana said that the financial assistance of BISP was playing a crucial role in improving the socio-economic conditions of more than four million poor beneficiary families. Therefore, she added that timely disbursement of the assistance was equally important.
She said that some complaints regarding disbursement must be redressed through improved monitoring and inspection system. Gorgej assured the BISP Chairperson that effective measures were being taken to redress the issues related to inefficient delivery. He said that BISP was a revolutionary initiative of the present democratic government therefore, Pakistan Post was making every effort to make it a success.
