Setting up of 300 fair price shops: Punjab government provides Rs 60 million to marketing wing of agriculture department
The Punjab Government has provided Rs 60 million to the marketing wing of the Agriculture Department Punjab for setting up 300 fair price shops through out the province where 10 food items are being sold at whole sale rates.
These fair price shops have been set up in special Ramazan Bazaars by the provincial government to facilitate the faithful during the sacred month of Ramazan by offering daily use commodities on affordable rates. The spokesman of Agriculture Department said that Rs 60 million have been provided by the Punjab Government for this initiative and facility during the holy month of Ramazan.
According to the details "Sasta Ramazan Bazaars" have been established by the District Governments through out the province and one Fair Price Shop in each Ramazan Bazar has been set-up by Marketing Wing of Agriculture Department, Punjab where Potato, Onion, Bitter Gourd, Lady Finger, Bottle Gourd, Pulses, Bason, Rice, Dates, and Banana are being provided at whole sale price.
The spokesman has described this initiative as public friendly to facilitate people and to stabilise prices of food items during holy month of Ramazan. The spokesman further added that the activity to facilitate people during holy month of Ramazan is being monitored by the Provincial Ministers, public representatives and government functionaries to extend benefits of this initiative to the general/poor masses.
