Veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader in occupied Kashmir Syed Ali Geelani has called for a complete shutdown on Wednesday (today) to protest against the custodial killing of a Kashmiri youth, Nazim Rashid, in Sopore by Indian police.
Syed Ali Geelani in a statement in occupied Srinagar said that a martial law-like situation had been created in the occupied territory by the authorities and innocent Kashmiri youth were being arrested and sent to jails in false cases, KMS reported.
He said, unidentified armed persons also barge into the houses of Kashmiris in the territory and kill the inmates. He said that the Indian agencies were behind such incidents, which were aimed at harassing the people. He said that military camps had been set up in the territory and the Indian troopers were using Kashmiri women as a weapon of war to weaken the ongoing liberation movement.
The veteran Hurriyet leader said that the strike was the last option left for the people of Kashmir to protest against the Indian state terrorism. He called upon the people to observe compete strike on Wednesday and convey a message to the international community that the use of brute force could not suppress the Kashmiris' ongoing struggle for securing their inalienable right of self-determination.
