Unabated city violence: LEAs set to initiate search operations in 100 localities

In a move to maintain peace in the city, the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) is all set to initiate search operations at some 100 different vicinities of the city. According to sources, this search operation would be triggered against criminal elements with the aim to control unabated targeted killing incidents and the armed clashes.
They said the police intelligence network (PIN) in its report has divided some 100 localities into three zones, including red, yellow and green and recommended to the authority concerned to conduct search operation in these localities at the earliest to maintain peace in the city metropolis.
They said the PIN has also suggested engaging rangers, police, female personnel and commandos for door-to-door search operation at these identified areas besides putting FC personnel as back-up force. The sources said these search operations would be conducted in phases aimed at cutting the supply of illegal weapons off to the city besides rooting out culprits from the most affected areas.
They observed that the culprits, who involved in disturbing the law and order situation in many areas, belonged to other regions and added that they were gathered and engaged in armed battle in these areas. Keeping this in view, it was decided that all entries and exits points of the areas where the operations are planned would be sealed for all movement.
When contacted DIG CIA Iftikar Tarrar, confirmed that they are going to initiate search operations at some 100 localities, adding that they have also received formal orders in this regard. Needless to mention, the spate of targeted killings has so far gulped some 100 lives of Karachiities since July 22 when the city's most populated areas Malir and Landhi came under intense wave of violence. Despite giving assurance to the Karachiites by the authority concerned to take stern action against wrongdoers for maintaining peace in the city, no positive measure was so far witnessed to yield fruits in this connection.
