ROTTERDAM: Soymeal on the European meals and feeds market eased on Thursday in sympathy with the lower close in Chicago soymeal futures on Wednesday and because of slack demand, market sources said.
"There is not much demand from consumers due to still low meat prices and the gloom global economic outlook. Worries about the South American soybean crop due to drought failed to spark much buying interest," one broker said.
South American soymeal was offered between unchanged and $4 a tonne down following Wednesday's lower CBOT soymeal futures close. Bids were scarce and no deals were reported.
Most other products were quoted flat to a bit firmer compared to Wednesday on Wednesday's stronger markets and some nearby demand. EU rapemeal changed hands at 174 euros per tonne fob lower Rhine for December delivery and January delivery fetched 171 euros fob.
