Zero-rated duty on alternate energy products and components is a landmark achievement to support renewable sources of energy, said Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi Chairman Intellectual Property Organisation (IPO-Pakistan).
"Energy audit should be conducted to overcome energy crisis besides adopting proper building codes," said Afridi while addressing the inaugural ceremony of three-day first international exhibition on alternative energy and energy efficiency, organised by Renewable & Alternative Energy Association of Pakistan (Reap) here on Thursday.
He said the challenges associated with the shortage of energy are already well known to the industry and masses. This phenomena of energy shortage is fairly common all over the developing as well as the under developed world however many of these countries are managing the situation pretty well by way of planning and utilisation of technology that is already commonly available all over the world.
The chairman said it is time to consider diligent, practical and active energy conservation across the board with partial and gradual introduction of renewable energy. He said Pakistan has huge potential to utilise renewable sources through available technologies.
He said the present energy crisis can be managed within a short span of time through honest and sincere efforts by taking up energy conservation at industrial levels initially with the implementation of available alternate energy means.
Enercon MD Fareed Ullah Khan said on the occasion that Enercon has introduced new techniques and vision to promote alternative energy methods throughout the country. He assured that all out efforts would be made to overcome the present energy crises through implementation of comprehensive strategies. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Alternative Energy Board Arif Alauddin, President Reap Naseer Ahmed and Expo Convenor, Muhammad Tariq Khattak also spoke on the occasion.
