After a brief lull, fresh wave of violence hit the city on Tuesday, as 10 people including an MQM worker were killed in different parts of the city here on Tuesday. Police said that a man, identified as Mohammed Iftikhar, 30, son of Abbas, was found dead near Azeempura Graveyard in the limits of Al-Falah police station.
Police said that some unknown men had kidnapped the victim and later threw his body in an abandoned place after killing him. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico legal formalities and later handed over to the heirs. The victim was an MQM activist. Following the killings, Malir and adjoining areas reverberated with gunfire forcing the traders to pull down their shutters. In another incident, a teenager was shot dead in the jurisdiction of Pirabad police station.
Policeman Ali Mazhar, 27, son of Ali Akbar was gunned down in Frontier Colony, Orangi Town in the remits of Pirabad police station. Police said that the deceased was gunman of Bilal Sheikh, a security officer of President Asif Ali Zardari. The motive behind the killing could not be determined. Police registered a case against the unidentified killers on the complaint Ali Asghar, brother of the deceased.
A bailiff of banking court was shot dead inside his house in Jauhar Square in the limits of Sharah-e-Faisal police station. The deceased was identified as Hussain Buksh Solangi, 42, son of Gul Mohammad. Police said unknown men barged into his house and sprayed him with bullets before fleeing from the scene.
Police official suspected that personal enmity might be the reason behind the killing. Another man, Ghulam Fareed Kalhoro was gunned down at his pan shop by unidentified assailants in Bilal Colony in the jurisdiction Korangi Industrial Area police station.
One, Saleem, was killed and another Gul Waris was wounded in a drive-by shooting when he was sitting outside his residence in Firdous Colony in the limits of Gulbahar police precincts. Police said that the deceased was a rickshaw driver.
A throttled body of an unidentified woman was found from bushes in Afghan Camp in Gulshan-e-Maymar police remits. DSP Iftikhar Lodhi said the deceased died of suffocation and also had torture marks on her body.
A bullet-riddled body of a man identified as Asim, 32, son of Naseerudin, was found from Lyari in the limits of Kalakot police station. He was a resident of Aagra Taj Colony, Kalri and used to run a meat shop in Moosa Lane, Lyari.
A man was found dead within the remit of the Kharadar police station. Police said a bullet-riddled body of 24-year-old was man was found from Honey Gali, Kharadar area.
Police shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post-mortem.
Police found another bullets-riddled body of a man from an abandoned place in Mohajar Camp in the limits of Baldia Town police station
Police said the identity of the deceased could not be ascertained. Unidentified culprits kidnapped him and after torture, hanged him to death and threw the body at an abandoned place. The body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Separately, a youth was injured in a clash between two groups in Rizvia in the limits of Gulbahar police station. The victim was rushed to hospital, where he died during treatment. He was identified as Aqeel Ahmed son Ahmed Chohan. Police shifted the body to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities. No case was registered till filing of this story.
