Sindh Chief Minister's Inspection Team (CMIT) has called Ilyas Rajput, a private person who had allegedly occupied the land allotted for the purpose of establishing 'Sufi University' at Bhit Shah, sources told Business Recorder.
Sindh government had allotted 53 acres land along with the buildings of Culture and Education Departments, including culture centre and public school for establishing Sufi University in Bhit Shah, district Matiyari. Local Revenue officials had complained before authorities that a private person, named Ilyas Rajput, has occupied the land and is claiming its ownership.
On the directives of Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, the CMIT team visited the land and reviewed its documents.
CMIT team also met with local people and officials of Revenue department and recorded their statements, sources said.
According to details, there was a piece of land of about 76 acres in Bhit Shah, out of which 53 acres land was the property of Sindh government, which was fixed for construction of offices and campus of Sufi University, sources said.
Ilyas Rajput has claimed that all 76 acres land, excluding the buildings of Culture and education departments, is his property. He has the documents of ownership of the said land but Revenue officials rejected his claim, sources said.
Local Revenue officials also registered an FIR for forgery against the said person. CMIT team also got the copy of said FIR for further inquiry, sources added. In this connection, Head of CMIT, Abdul Subhan Memon, has called Ilyas Rajput for recording his statement. He would visit Karachi in a week's time, sources said.
Sindh government had to start work on the university from January this year but failed due to financial crisis raised after floods of last year. The CMIT would complete its inquiry within 15 days and would submit its report to the Chief Minister, sources added.
