The Karachi Port handled 180,108 tonnes of cargo including 119,716 tonnes of import cargo, 60,392 tonnes of export cargo and 5,358 loaded & empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 119,716 tonnes comprised of 63,536 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15,847 tonnes of bulk cargo: 14,785 tonnes of DAP; 1,062 tonnes of rock phosphate and 40,333 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 60,392 tonnes comprised of 47,045 tonnes of containerised cargo; 176 tonnes of general cargo; 11,571 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,263 tonnes of cement; 6,450 tonnes of loose bulk cement; 2,381 tonnes of wheat; 101 tonnes of rice and 1,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
Twelve ships namely Hanjin Paris, Praia, Dandle, APL Sharjah, Lavender, OEL Trust, Cape Maas, Dongbu Promy-2, Marilena, Lodestar Genesis, Tabernacle Prince and Safina-2 carrying seven container ships, three oil tankers, cement carrier and rice carrier respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Seventeen vessels viz Lavender, Cape Maas, MOL Seabreeze, Violetta, OEL Trust, APL Ruby, Al-Mirqab, Lodestar Genesis, Alpine Amalia, Enis, Bey, MT Quetta, Usma, Kwan Mobohg, Manar, Rosy Falcon and UBC Cyprus Promy-2 carrying seven container ships, five oil tankers, general cargo ship, rock phosphate, wheat carrier and cement carrier respectively are currently at the berths.
Four ships namely APL Ruby, MOL Seabreeze, Al-Mirqab and Kota Arif carrying four container ships respectively expected to sail on Monday, while three ships namely Violetta, MT Quetta and Alpine Amalia with container ship and two oil tankers respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday. Five vessels viz Diace, MT Karachi, APL Coral, Bunga Raya Lapan and Vergina with ethanol carrier, crude oil tanker, two container ships and steel carrier respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
The total export cargo of 10,714 tonnes includes 1,390 tonnes of wheat and 9,324 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two ships namely Maersk Georgia and MSC Aurilie sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely MV Siam Sapphire and STX Forte will sail out to sea on the same day.
A total number of six vessels CV MSC Aurilie, CV Maersk Georgia, Topaz-II, MV Siam Sapphire, Kasugta and STX Forte are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, wheat, chemicals and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours. Seven ships namely Kathe Rickmers, Al-Soor-II, Al-Kuwaitiah, Rdeim, Sea Lion, Harbour Fountain and Golden Ambrosia carrying containers, diesel oil, bitumin, furnace oil, edible oil and chemicals are currently at the outer anchorage.
A total number of four vessels viz Sea Lion, Harbour Fountain, Rdeim and Golden Ambrosia carrying containers, gas oil, LPG and cement are expected to take berths at Containers Terminal, FOTCO Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Multi-Purpose Terminal (MW-1&3) respectively on Monday.
