Political activists from different religious and liberal parties have stressed for national consensus on all key issues and called upon the mainstream political parties to jointly workout for pulling the country out of the prevailing crisis.
They expressed these views during an All Parties Conference (APC) held under the aegis of Jamiate-Ahle Haadis, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Peshawar Press Club on Monday. Central Ameer, Jamiate-Ahle Haadis, and Senator, Sajid Mir was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Central Ameer, Jamiate-Ahle Haadis Senator Sajid Mir said that the country is facing enormous challenges due to inconsistency in the policies, saying that the situation has become worse with the passage of time because of imposing others' policies. He said that the Abbottabad and Mehran base debacles are alarming bell for the ruling government to review its overall policies. He said that issues could be resolved through an adoption of a sovereign and independent policy.
Senator Sajid Mir asked the political and military leadership to develop consensus on key national issues, adding there is a need to workout own domain for prosperity and national integrity of the country. Mir Arbab Tahir, from ANP in his address said that the government is facing severe challenges, saying that it has virtually broken the backbone of terrorists due to prompt action in Malakand Division. He said the situation of tribal areas is same like Malakand Division. He said that peaceful Afghanistan is imperative for lasting calm in the region. Peace can't be restored till instability in neighbouring Afghanistan, he maintained.
Liaqat Shabab from PPP, in his address, said that the PPP-led coalition government had adopted a joint resolution with consultation of all political parties on all key national issues. He said if all political forces would establish consensus one point agenda, then the task will be accomplished. He acknowledged that the ruling PPP government has the responsibility to take measures for amicable resolution of all outstanding issues, because of which it has adopted national reconciliation policy.
PPP provincial minister said any conspiracies developing against Pakistan in the region should be dealt with iron hands to foil nefarious designs of internal and external elements. He said that the government had always opposed any kind of US drones incursion inside in the country.
Intikhab Khan Chamkani from PML-N called for adoption of a joint strategy and plan for everlasting peace in this part of the region. Israrullah Advocate of JI, in his address said that the government had failed in implementation of joint resolution adopted with consensus of all political parties. Owing the non-implementation of resolution, he observed that US drones campaign inside tribal areas has been exceeded. The situation is getting worse day by day due to rulers' pro-America policies in the country, he maintained. He said the country's solidarity and integrity was at stake because of growing US intervention here.
He called for holding an all parties conference at the central level to debate national issues and sort out amicable solution of problems confronting the country. Asad Qaiser from PTI said that the PPP-led coalition government has failed to provide any kind of relief to poor masses, saying that no practical steps were taken to address the issue facing the country. Excessive electricity load shedding, unemployment, and lawlessness are the major issues of the country, but the government did nothing to overcome prevailing situation.
Other speakers, also, criticised the policies of the ruling PPP-led coalition government and called for pre-emptive measures for the resolution of all outstanding issues. He said that the country is facing worse situation of its 64th year history, but the rulers are least bothered to give proper attention towards the prevailing situation.
