As many as four Pakistani students have left the country recently to attend the 43rd International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO), currently being held at Ankara, Turkey, which began from July 9. The STEM (Science, Technology, and Engineering & Mathematics) Careers Programme, a project of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for grooming talented students for careers in STEM, has sent these students to Ankara.
List of the participants included Syed Muhammad Saad Imran of Generation School F-100, Block B, North Nazimabad, Karachi; Uzair Ijaz Khan of Lahore Grammar School 49, Civic Centre, MA-Johar Town; Amna Rashid of Lahore Grammar School, 16-H, Luqman Hakeem Road, G-6/3, Islamabad and Marium Ahmed Uqaili of Lahore Grammar School Defence, 136-E, Phase-1, Lahore

Fifty top scorers in the subject of Chemistry were selected on the basis of their performance.
They were further groomed and screened through a series of training camps and distance learning examinations that led to the selection of four students for International Chemistry Olympiad, being held from July 9 to 18, 2011 in Ankara. NCTC (National Chemistry Talent Contest) aims at inspiring youth of the nation to opt for careers in Chemistry, and prepares them for participation in the Annual International Olympiads in Chemistry.
