Vice Chancellor University of Sindh, Professor Dr Nazir A. Mughal has urged upon the deans to ensure that 12 credit hours are completed by each faculty and sought ideas for development of computer laboratories at the departmental level.
He was talking with the Dean Faculty of Social Sciences on the occasion of surprise visit of Faculty of Arts Building on Monday to inspect the progress in repair work, whitewash, greenery, cleanliness, availability of water for plantation and other facilities. The Vice Chancellor said that a letter will be sent soon to the deans of the faculties regarding checking and ensuring 12 credit hour teaching by each faculty member in their concerned institutes and departments.
He said that in the universities in abroad nowadays, they set up computer laboratories in the seminar libraries. He advised the deans to prepare a proposal for the set up of computer laboratories in each institute and department so that the students can benefit from modern facilities.
The VC, while inspecting various teaching departments, expressed dissatisfaction over the progress in ongoing minor repair and assigned responsibility to dean faculty of social sciences to look after the same before starting of classes of 2nd semester from August 1. He also visited departments including offices and seminar library of the political science department located at the faculty of arts building.
He expressed worry about poor cleanliness and conditions of parks and plantation at the arts faculty building. He strictly warned the maintenance section to pay attention to plantation without delay and ensure daily attendance and working of the lower staff to carry work properly. He said that under new reforms, only maintenance section is responsible to carry maintenance work and look after and monitor the progress of the technical staff.
