The NBT Wind Power Pakistan Limited in association with Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) is setting up a 50 to 100 MW Wind Farm. An official of the NBT Wind said here on Friday that a Joint Development Agreement has been signed in this regard.
It was inked by Chairman of NBT AS Arne J Myre, and Secretary of the Board of SZABIST Dr Suleman Shaikh. The delegation of NBT Pakistan had already met with the higher authorities in Islamabad. In Karachi the team had also called on Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, and Sindh Chief Secretary, Raja Muhammad Abbas. They also laid foundation stone at the NBT-SZABIST site in Gharo, district Thatta.
The NBT Pakistan also signed an agreement and held a project launching ceremony which was attended by the officials of Sindh Government, SZABIST board of directors and faculty members, CEO of AEDB and members of the business community. Through this agreement, the NBT Pakistan will bring in investment and know-how required for the completion of this project within 18 months of all necessary permits and requirements being in place.
The students of SZABIST will get hands-on experience of the latest cutting edge technology of establishing wind farms and erecting wind turbines. It was further pointed out that this agreement will create a work force which will have the capacity to execute essential large renewable energy projects required to be developed in Pakistan, to overcome the acute shortage of electricity.
