Punjab's Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) has so far rescued over one million people in over nine million rescue operations conducted in the province. Director General Rescue 1122, Dr Rizwan Naseer said this while addressing a press conference, here on Thursday.
Rizwan stressed that awareness of public is necessary to check rising incident of mishaps. In this regard, Rescue 1122 has prepared Emergency Handbook as a part of public awareness campaign against mishaps, he said. In Lahore, he said Rescue 1122 has handled around 0.5 million medical emergencies apart from extending rescue services in road mishaps, fire incidents and crime-related incidents.
He further said that Rescue 1122 has conducted as many as 32,359 rescue operations during the month of June throughout Punjab province while total 32,929 people were provided relief in emergency conditions during the period. Rescue 1,122 provided relief to the citizens in 11,717 traffic accidents, 17,568 medical emergency cases, 832 fire incidents, 83 building collapse cases, 1,871 crime cases, 106 special rescue operations, 16 blasts and several other incidents during this period, he said. Dr Rizwan Naseer said that extra precautionary measures should be adopted while driving during rains and bad weather conditions. Electric wires and poles should not be touched during rains.
