The senior most judge of the Supreme Court (SC) Justice Javed Iqbal was informed that Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah's staff has declined to receive the notice of the court on the pretext that the Minster was out of the country.
The notice was issued by the apex court on the plea of Dr Babar Awan, who filed an application on June 20 in the human rights cell of the apex court, praying to the court to form a judicial commission to examine Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah's statement in which he allegedly declared that Dr Awan was liable to be killed.
Counsel for Dr Babar Awan, Advocate Supreme Court Ramzan Chaudhry contended that the SC notice had not been honoured. He prayed for contempt of court proceedings against the provincial law minister. It was also pleaded that the notice was issued to appear in person so Additional Advocate General Punjab Razaq A. Mirza could not appear before the Judge on the behalf of the provincial minister. The court again issued notice to Rana Sannaullah to appear before the Judge in person on July 18.
