Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Ahamd Raza Tahir has said that a system of citizens' feedback would be strengthened by propagating community policing in order to create a better liaison between police and the people, besides helping in identification of criminal elements in the city.
CCPO said that terrorists and hardened criminals are enemy of the humanity and those who play with the lives of innocent people will face full force of the law. He said that Ulema will have to play an effective role in order to purge anti-social elements from the society, besides propagating message of peace, harmony and brotherhood in the society. He was talking to a 15-member Shia Ulema delegation of Majlis Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen which called on him at CCPO office, under the leadership of its chairman Alhaj Haidar Ali Mirza here on Wednesday.
DIG Operations Ghulam Mehmood Dogar, DIG Investigations Ali Amir Malik, SSP Operations Shaukat Abbas, SSP Investigations Abdul Razaq Cheema and SP Headquarters Captain (R) Romail Akram were also present on the occasion. The other members of the delegation included Mulana Iqbal Kamrani, Maulana Abdul Khaliq, Asad Naqvi, Akhtar Hussain Khan, Syed Husnain Jafar Zaidi, Rai Nasir, Rana Majid and Sheikh Imran.
Talking to Ulema, Ahmad Raza Tahir called upon them to play their effective role in forging religious tolerance and unity among their followers and extend their efforts in helping the government meeting the challenge of terrorism and sectarianism. CCPO said that by following the golden principles of Islam, which teaches us unity and brotherhood, all heinous crimes, including terrorism, can be purged from the society.
He said Lahore Police Jawans have sacrificed their lives in combating terrorism and crime and have displayed exemplary bravery and courage. During the meeting, various proposals of propagating religious tolerance were discussed in the light of maintenance of law and order in the city.
