The inquiry commission to investigate the May 2 Abbottabad incident, in which al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed in a unilateral US raid, in its first meeting on Tuesday finalised procedure for investigation. The meeting of the Commission was presided over by Justice Javed Iqbal of Supreme Court and was attended by members including Secretary Cabinet Division Nargis Sethi, Lieutenant General (Retd) Nadeem Ahmad, Ashraf Jahangir and others.
The meeting discussed investigation procedure of the commission and decided that the concerned officials can be called for investigation whenever needed. Sources said that the commission will also present a report on presence of Osama bin Laden and the US unilateral operation besides the negligence of the concerned institutions will also be pointed out.
Sources said that the commission will look into four aspects of the Abbottabad incident, including presence of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan, and reason behind intelligence failure. The Commission discussed various aspects of conducting inquiry into the incident and decided to hold regular meetings from next week. The next meeting of commission will be held on Monday, July 11.
