Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Election Commission (EC) on Monday announced that the polling in two constituencies of the AJK Legislative Assembly including LA-30 (Jammu-I) and LA-36 (Kashmir Valley-I) will be held on July 20.
An official notification issued by the EC on the orders of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) former Justice Khawaja Muhammad Saeed said that consequent upon reports and recommendations received from the offices of the Provincial Police Officer, Government of Sindh on June 24, 2011, and from the concerned Returning Officers, polling for the constituencies LA-30 (Jammu and Others-I) and LA-36 (Kashmir valley-I) was postponed by the AJK Chief Election Commissioner on account of law and order situation in Karachi.
The notification said the Chief Election Commissioner postponed the polling in the aforesaid constituencies on June 26, in exercise of his powers conferred upon him under section 10 (A) read with section 92 of the AJK Legislative Assembly (Elections) Ordinance 1970.
