Collector, Model Customs Collectorate of Port Qasim, Rubina Wasti on Monday said that WeBOC custom clearance system has been launched as pilot project and is an alternative to Pakistan Custom Computerised System (PaCCS) and One Custom.
Speaking at 5th meeting of customs and valuation sub-committee of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), she said that any new system faces some problems and the same will be overcome with the help of business community. Rubina Wasti said the system is slightly different from PaCCS.
She said the Collectorate has issued a standard operating procedure for registration of imports, exports and their agents to give them the user ID. She said if WeBOC pilot project at PQA Collectorate succeeds, its operations may be expanded.
She said that she would take up the issue of withdrawal of flood relief surcharge with higher authorities. She appreciated the business community's efforts that helped achieve revenue collection target despite present power and gas load shedding.
KCCI President Mohammad Saeed Shafiq said that the country is facing the worst-ever crisis due to bad law and order situation, prolonged power outages and gas load shedding for industries. He said in just a few days after the announcement of budget, the government has started announcing mini budgets in the shape of gas and power tariff increase.
He said the business community has no control over cost of production. Chairman of the sub committee, Muhammad Ali Jangda highlighted the issue of re-registration of importers and exports under WeBOC. He pleaded that there is no need to re-register imports and exports, adding that the record should be collected from PaCCS.
