Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 62,344 tonnes of cargo including 38,004 tonnes of import cargo, 24,340 tonnes of export cargo and 2,059 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 38,004 tonnes comprised of 7,455 tonnes of containerised cargo; 549 tonnes of general cargo and 30,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 24,340 tonnes comprised of 14,462 tonnes of containerised cargo; 167 tonnes of general cargo; 3,611 tonnes of bulk cargo: 669 tonnes of cement; 2,270 tonnes of wheat; 672 tonnes of rice and 6,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Three ships namely YM Europe, Cape Manuel and Hanjin Durban carrying three container ships respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Three vessels viz Valdivia, King Brave and BBC Tennessee carrying container ship, general cargo ship and project cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. An oil tanker namely Targale expected to sail on Wednesday, while three ships namely Valdivia, King Brave and BBC Tennessee and Oriental Protea with container ship, general cargo ship and project cargo ship respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
Six vessels viz Trave Trader, Cape Gabriel, Prestige New York, Vera-9, Green Line and J.Friend with two container ships, vehicles carrier, coal ship, cement carrier and general cargo ship due to arrive on Wednesday, while eight vessels viz Ginga Kite, Kota Azam, Wan Hai-602, Hanjin Berlin, Al-Mirqab, President Truman, Lt.Genova and Northern Valanvce carrying base oil tanker and seven container ships respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIMThe Port Qasim handled 95,103 tonnes of cargo includes 80,515 tonnes of import cargo, 14,588 tonnes of export cargo and 1,379 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) during last 24 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 80,515 tonnes includes 54,595 tonnes of furnace/diesel oil; 12,370 tonnes of canola seeds; 4,700 tonnes of chemicals and 8,850 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 14,588 tonnes includes 1,920 tonnes of wheat; 3,200 tonnes of cement and 9,468 tonnes of containerised cargo.
Two ships namely Nedlloyd Drake and Al-Abdali sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while three more ships namely MT Al-Salam-II, Argent Kosmos and MT Golden Ambrosia will sail out to sea on the same day afternoon. A total number of nine vessels viz Nedlloyd Drake, Al-Abdali, MV Acacia-N, MV Orient-III, Tamil Nadu, MT Golden Ambrosia, MV Ataman, MT Al-Salam-II and Argent Kosmos are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, wheat, chemicals, canola seeds, diesel oil and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Six ships namely Zaliv Vostok, Chembulk Tortola, Saudi Tabuk, ACX Rafflesia, Nora Maersk and CGM Waginer carrying containers, furnace oil, edible oil and four container ships are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of four vessels viz ACX Rafflesia, Saudi Tabuk, CGM Waginer and Chembulk Tortola carrying three container ships and edible oil tanker are expected to take berths at Containers Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
