Copper ended lower on Monday, dragged down in a general retreat across other commodity markets, as uncertainty surrounding Greece's debt crisis and China's grip on inflation withdrew confidence from the markets.
Copper's losses bucked the supportive influences of a weak dollar and stronger equities, as softer demand prospects and concerns about the fragility of the global recovery kept bearish players in control at the start of the week, and technical pressures alive and well, as prices once again broke down below the 200-day moving average. In New York, the key September COMEX contract shed 4.80 cents or 1.2 percent to settle at $4.0675 per lb.
