Chief coach of Pakistan team Olympian Rana Mujahid Ali has said that his team was capable of retaining their title in Junior Asia Cup Hockey being staged in Singapore from June 17. "Our youngsters are in good spirits and there should be no problem for them to reach the last four stage," he told APP in interview on the eve of team's departure on Monday.
"Our strength is in the forward line which has good scoring powers," he said. He said they (the team) got talented Muhammad Irfan, Arsalan Qadir, Asad Bashir, Ali Shan and Bilal Qadir in the forward line. Defending Champion Pakistan is drawn in pool "A" with minnows Brunei, Kazakhstan and hosts Singapore. China, Korea, Malaysia and Sri Lanka are in group "B".
"Our challenge starts in the semi-final against China and Korea," Rana Mujahid Ali, who represented Pakistan in 1996 Atlanta Olympics said. He said his team has experienced boys who featured in the previous competition which they won in Myanmar two years ago. Rana Mujahid said his team trained very hard during the second phase of the training and is in good spirit.
