Labour department asked to ensure implementation of industrial policy

District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Rawalpindi Saqib Zafar on Sunday called for role of labour department to make sure implementation of Industrial Policy 2003 and for providing minimum monthly wage of Rs 7000 to the labourers and workers. He gave these instructions, while chairing a meeting of District Welfare Board, held here at his office.
The meeting was attended by Executive District Officer (EDO) Community Development Malik Muhammad Sher, District Officer (DO) Labour Chaudhry Ijaz Ahmed, President Industrial Estate Committee Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce Sheikh Muhammad Hafeez, Managing Director (MD) Rahat Woolen Mills Hasan Ahmed, General Secretary Murree Barouri Labour Union Syed Nazar Hussain Shah, General Secretary Attock Refinery Abdul Raoof, General Secretary Labour Union Heavy Mechanical Complex Taxila Attaullah and Social Welfare Officer Muhammad Akram. The DCO directed the authorities concerned for data collection in this regard by end of July and said the industrial units, found violating the law should be challaned. The meeting was informed that there is no registration of labourers in Industrial Estate Rawat on which the DCO instructed the officials of the Labour department to take necessary steps in this regard.
