The Private Pensioners Association Chairman Khalil-ur-Rehamn has demanded of the government to increase the pension of private sector retired employees under the Old Age Benefit.
In a statement on Saturday he said that the inflation has equally affected both government and private sector employees but unfortunately, the government has only announced raise in the pension of government sector employees while no word has been given by the Federal Finance Minister for the wellbeing of the private sector retired employees.
He said that currently the private sector retired employees are getting only Rs 3000 per month pension, which is such a small amount that no family can even have food for ten days, and how they would fulfil their other necessities?
He said that if a raise is announced in the old age benefit of the former private sector employees, millions of people would get benefit out of it and the image of the government will also get boost. He appealed to Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani to announce a raise of Rs 2000 in the pension of former private sector employees.
