At least three persons including an activist of Awami National party (ANP) were killed in separate incidents in various parts of the metropolis here on Friday. According to details, an activist of ANP was gunned down while other sustained bullet wounds at Macchar Colony in the limits of Docks police station.
The incident took place at Baba Ahmed Road Macchar Colony where the president of UC-II ANP ward Lyari Town Imran Niazi, 24 son of Ghulam Yaseen was targeted by unidentified armed men when he was going to home along with his friend Ashraf Niazi from a marriage ceremony of his friend Iqbal. The culprits managed to flee after committing the crime, leaving Imran dead while his friend Ashraf in critical condition. Imran's dead body and injured friend Ashraf Niazi were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico legal formalities and treatment.
Scores of ANP workers reached to the hospital and chanted slogans against the authorities. Meanwhile, police said the victim, who was the resident of Niazi Chowk Lyari, used to run transport business and added that the deceased, who was the president of UC-II ward, survived in an armed attack few days ago. A spokesman of ANP Sindh Qadir Khan condemned the said incident and demanded to the government to take measures for the arrest of responsible persons.
Later the victim, whose funeral process was offered at Pathan Mosque Moosa lane, was buried in local graveyard of Moosa Lane. Following the said incident, tension engulfed many parts of the Moosa lane and Macchar Colony where miscreants resorted to aerial firing and forced shopkeepers to pull down their shutters. Later police registered an FIR (115/11) against unidentified men on the complaint of Ashraf and initiated probe in this connection.
In another incident, an elderly woman fell down in mysterious circumstances near Mukka Chowk in the limits of Jauharabad police station. The victim 80-year-old Akbari Khatoon wife of Anwar, who was the resident of Prince Arcade situated near Mukka Chowk, fell down from fifth floor of the building and died on the spot. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico legal formalities.
Police said the motive behind her death was yet to be ascertained while the victim's family took her body without completing legal formalities. A teenage boy was crushed to death near old Subzi Mandi in the remits of PIB police station. The victim, who was later identified as 19-year-old Osama son of Shahid, a resident of Saadi Goth Safora Goth, was hit by speedy vehicle while crossing the road near Old Subzi Mandi.
Resultantly, he died on the spot while the responsible drive managed to flee. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico legal formalities and later handed over his family. No case was registered till filing of this report.
