A forensic report has confirmed that Russian-made weapons were used in PNS Mehran attack. According to sources, the report, which was received by the Sindh police on Friday, said the terrorists fired seven rockets in the attack, of which five met their targets.
They said that Russian made LMGs, SMGs and Kalashnikovs, having 2004 model, were used in the attack. They said the report further showed that the gun battle between the security forces and the terrorists took place in the range of 80 to 100 metres. They added that there was no breakthrough in the investigation, as CCTV footages were still not provided.
Sources said the police had arrested six persons from various parts of the metropolis who were shifted to unidentified place for interrogation. However, the officials in police department did not confirm the said arrests.
When contacted, DIG Investigation Iftikhar Tarrar confirmed that the police had received forensic report regarding the weapons used in PNS Mehran attack. He said the ethnicity of the terrorists was not confirmed yet, which could only be made through DNA report.
