Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Thursday demanded formation of an independent commission to probe into terror attack on PNS Mehran. Talking to reporters at Benzair International Airport, he said the government does not seem serious to hold inquiry into the terror attack on PNS Mehran, which he termed a very dangerous act.
Nawaz Sharif said that we should ensure protection to Pakistan's sovereignty and integrity. Therefore, he said we should present ourselves for accountability while demanding an inquiry into the incident through an independent commission.
He regretted that we did not learn lesson from Abbottabad incident adding it was very unfortunate that no commission has been constituted so far to investigate the May 2 incident in which top al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed in a US unilateral raid.
"How many such incidents would be tolerated," he asked, adding that despite passage of the unanimous resolution by the joint session of the parliament and a letter sent to the prime minister by leader of the opposition the independent commission could not be constituted. The resolution passed by the parliament, he said, should not only be accepted, but also be implemented in letter and spirit.
To a question, Nawaz said that we should stop begging for foreign aid, adding that we have to break the 'begging bowl' and give a message to our youth that they should not rely on foreign aid and put the country on the path of development, using our own limited resources.
