Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that charities push the nations into the abyss of disgrace and humiliation, hence a historic decision has been taken with the support of the masses to renounce foreign aid. He said that Pakistan was the citadel of Islam and every sacrifice would be made to foil the conspiracies of those forces trying to destroy the country and grab its nuclear assets.
He stated that the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-N would regain the lost status of the country by acting upon the teachings of Islam and the principles of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal. According to the information of DGPR received here Thursday he was addressing a public meeting in Islamia College Chiniot during the day. Provincial Minister for Food Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor and Member Provincial Assembly Mehr Masood Lali also spoke on the occasion.
The Chief Minister said that Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iran and China were the true friends of Pakistan and had always supported it in the time of need. He said that a Chinese company had constructed Chiniot-Sargodha-Khushab Road and it was of the highest standard. He stated that national resources were looted mercilessly under the last government in the name of development projects and Musharraf and his cronies indulged in corruption of billions of rupees in development schemes.
He said that Pindi Bhattian-Chiniot-Kamalpur Road was a proof of the corruption of former government. He said that billions of rupees were misappropriated in that project but the present government completed that project which was in a shambles. He said that Punjab government ensured transparent utilisation of development funds and every penny of public money were being utilised only for the welfare of masses.
He said that elite had also looted the country and disgraced the people and that was why Pakistan of the rich was different from that of the poor. He stated that Qabza Group and Tout Mafia had usurped the rights of the people and it was high time for the masses to stand up for their rights. He said that model of an Islamic welfare state was available in the form of Misaq-e-Madina for regaining the lost status of Pakistan.
The Chief Minister said that Pakistan Army was not the name of a general or naval or air chief but it was the army of the country and no one would be allowed to weaken the armed forces. He said that there might have been some shortcoming, which resulted in the incidents of Abbotabad and Mehran naval base, but the living nations overcome their flaws and weak points through accountability. He said that a thorough investigation should be conducted into Mehran naval base and Abbotabad incidents.
He stated that time had come for the people to block the way of looters and agents of others and turns down the meager amount given disdainfully as charity. He pointed out that innocent people were being killed in Drone attacks and those attacks were being carried out not only in North Waziristan but also in Faisalabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Quetta, Peshawar, Karachi and other cities indirectly.
He said that status of a district for Chiniot was a gift for the people of the area and steps were also being taken for its progress and development. Earlier, Member Provincial Assembly Mehr Masood Lali thanked the Chief Minister for awarding the status of district to Chiniot and also pointed out problems of the area.
