LSE index gains 30.71 points

Equities on Thursday extended further gains amid improved trading turnover on the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) following fresh buying in selective scrips. The LSE-25 index was further improved by 30.71 points and was closed at 3300.33 points against 3269.62 points of Wednesday, while transaction volume was increased to 6.211 million shares, as compared to 4.976 million shares traded a day earlier.
While continuing the day earlier sentiments, the market opened on a positive sign and stayed in green zone throughout the day. Some blue chips including Attock Refinery, Pakistan Refinery, Pakistan Oil Fields, Byco Petroleum and Hub Power of oil and energy sector attracted the investors, which kept market in bullish zone. Likewise, MCB Bank, National Bank, Bank of Punjab, Adamjee Insurance, Dawood Hercules Chemical, Engro Polymer and Chemical also helped index improvement.
However, profit taking was also seen in PPL, PSO, OGDC, Treet Corporation, Millat Tractors, Engro Corporation, Fauji Fertiliser, Reliance Weaving Mills and Lotte Pakistan PTA, as the investors offloaded their holdings to secure their positions. The gainers were more than the losers, as out of a total of 118 active issues, 37 companies registered gains, 24 went down, while 57 companies remained unchanged at their previous closing.
Among gainers, Attock Refinery was improved by Rs 6.27, Pakistan Refinery was appreciated by Rs 4.04, MCB Bank gained Rs 1.81, while Adamjee Insurance, Dawood Hercules Chemical and Pakistan Oil Fields were up by Rs 1.60, Rs 1.28 and Rs 1.22, respectively. In the minus column, Treet Corporation lost Rs 2.09, PPL was declined by Rs 1.89, while Millat Tractors was down by Rs 1.27. Bank of Punjab continued to be the market leader with trading of 2.761 million shares followed by Silk Bank with 687,310 shares.
