FBR collects Rs 1,050 billion during July-April

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has provisionally collected around Rs 1,050 billion during July-April (2010-2011) against the downward revised annual target of Rs 1,588 billion, reflecting a shortfall of Rs 538 billion. Sources told Business Recorder here on Thursday that the FBR has compiled data of revenue collection during July to April 14, 2011.
In order to meet the further slashed annual target of Rs 1,588 billion by June 30, 2011, the FBR has to collect at least Rs 269 billion each in the months of April and June of the current fiscal year. The provisional revenue collection figures are based on the latest data of April 2011.
The exact position of revenue collection would be clear after the compilation of final figures. According to the past figures, the FBR collected Rs 1,012 billion during July-March (2010-2011) against Rs 910 billion in the corresponding period of last fiscal, showing an improvement of 11.3 percent.
According to the provisional figures issued on Thursday, direct taxes collection stood at Rs 396.513 billion during July-April (2010-2011) against Rs 353.475 billion in the corresponding period of last fiscal, showing an increase of 12.2 percent. Sales tax collection stood at Rs 432.460 billion during the first ten months of current fiscal against Rs 379.094 billion in the same period last fiscal, reflecting an increase of 14.1 percent.
Sales tax collection at the import stage stood at Rs 221.660 billion during July-April (2010-2011) against Rs 180.783 billion, showing an increase of 22.6 percent. The provisional sales tax collection on domestic consumption stood at Rs 210.801 billion during July-April (2010-2011) against Rs 198.311 billion in the corresponding period of last fiscal, reflecting an increase of 6.3 percent.
The FBR collected Rs 88.924 billion as federal excise duty (FED) during July-April against Rs 84.768 billion in the corresponding period of last fiscal, reflecting an increase of 4.9 percent. The collection of customs duty amounted to Rs 132.041 billion during the first ten months of current fiscal against Rs 116.551 billion in the same period of last fiscal, reflecting an improvement of 13.3 percent. According to the data of monthly collection, the FBR collected Rs 31.163 billion during first 14 days of April 2011 against Rs 24.290 billion collected in the corresponding period of last fiscal, reflecting an increase of 28.3 percent.
