DCO Khairpur Mohammad Abbas Baloch presided over the meeting of District Agriculture Facility Board (DAFB) in DCO Darbar Hall. He said that every possible effort has been taken to facilitate the grower of the district to cultivate the various crops to contribute in national economy.
He said that agriculture sector of the province is very much important therefore, all the officers of revenue, irrigation and food department may enhance their efforts to facilitate the growers for their cultivation. DCO directed the food officials to ensure the transparency in distribution of wheat bags among the growers in the district.
While in the meeting Deputy Director Food Zahid Hussain Memon told that there are 45 centres for the wheat procurement have been established with target of 1.5 million bags, while there are 4 centres have been establish by the PASSCO in the district with the target of 2 lakh bags.
The growers demanded to increase the target of wheat procurement as they told that in katcha area of the district the wheat crop has been increased due to recent flood and also demanded the fair and transparent distribution of wheat bags among the growers. They also were the view that the middlemen and businessmen's involvement for getting wheat bags from the food department causes sorrows and frustration among the local growers of the area. However, food inspectors were directed to keep liaison with the local growers and local revenue officials to ensure the transparent distribution of the wheat bags.
DCO also directed EDO Revenue to constitute committees at taluka level to ensure the transparent distribution wheat bags and to achieve the target of wheat procurement. Local growers Qadir Bux Mari, Ghulam Qasim Jiskani, Syed Liaquat Ali Shah, Lal Bux Mangi and officials of Revenue, Food and others attended the meeting.
