Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is going to initiate a programme for quail farming for the development of rural economy in D I Khan, Abbottabad and central districts of Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda and Swabi.
Talking to media men, Provincial Chief, Smeda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Javed Iqbal Khattak said that the quail farming is a totally new business option for the development of rural economies in these districts. He said that women entrepreneurs would also be provided equal opportunity in the business that would be adopted in shape of a new business in the province. The provincial office of the authority had directed its Regional Business Centres (RBCs) of D I Khan, Abbottabad and Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) to facilitation in this regard.
The business, he said had big potential as quails could be started from an investment of Rs 50, 000. The provincial chief Smeda said that a meeting of the Regional Business Centres (RBCs) was also held on Wednesday and reviewed schemes for the promotion of SME sector in the province.
The meeting said that after successful preparation and implementation of the marble, granite and gems development strategies, Smeda will now prepare development strategies for chromite and gypsum and directed all regional co-ordinators to initiate measures for the development of the businesses of the sectors.
