Residents of Rufi Homes including some of Haroon Bungalows of Scheme 33, Sector 38-A were spending day and night without electricity for the last four days. According to details, the PMT of Rufi Homes and Safora Goth blasted on Wednesday evening. The residents reported the incident but no one from Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) turned up to repair and replace the PMT.
On Friday evening, a KESC mobile team inspected the PMT and said as it had been completely damaged hence it would be replaced by midnight. But since then no step has been taken to repair/replace the damaged PMT to restore power supply to the affected area. Residents of Rufi Homes said they had visited the office of General Manger KESC to appraise him about the situation, but he even refused to meet them.
They said that due to unavailability of electricity, there was no water in the area and the residents were facing severe problems. They criticised the power utility for poor service. They said that KESC was very efficient to disconnect power supply in case of delay in payment of bills but in case of any fault, the KESC was not so efficient in rectifying the fault.
