Fighting terrorism: President calls for enhanced regional cooperation

President Asif Ali Zardari said on Saturday that regional co-operation and establishment of trans-national linkages is essential for fighting effectively terrorism.
It is, therefore, a national and collective responsibility to make sincere efforts and implement strategies to rid the South Asian region of terrorism and militancy, the president said during his meeting with the Secretary General of South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (Saarc), Ms Fathimath Dhiyana Saeed who called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Briefing newsmen, spokesperson to President Farhatullah Babar said that matters relating to terrorism, drug-trafficking and socio-economic co-operation among member states came under discussion during the meeting.
