Chairman Intellectual Property Organisation (IPO) Pakistan Hameedullah Jan Afridi has said that the IPO laws would be implemented to protect the researchers, inventors and writers for ensuring fair trade and business practices. "The prime goal of IPO Pakistan is to have an IP efficient society because it is a powerful tool of economic growth and development," Afridi said while presiding a meeting of Regional Heads of IPO-Pak on Friday.
Among others prominent persons who attended the moot were Sabir Gul Khattak, Chaudhry Asfand Ali, Shakeel Ahmed Abbasi, Imtiaz Ali, Muhammad Iftikhar, Muhammad Ismail, Messaq Arif, Syed Nasrullah, Asif Iqbal and Kashif Latif Malik. He asked heads of various sections of IPO to have a solid infrastructure for meeting international standard so that the trade targets for the current year could be achieved, as per expectation of IP related national and international organisations.
Various decisions were taken to make administrative set-up more effective and service-oriented to improve the working of the organisation, he added. Afridi called upon Regional Heads of IPO-Pakistan to extend every possible facility to genuine proprietors and to discourage fake products and to deal illegal practitioners with iron hand.
Chairman IPO Pakistan reviewing the progress of Regional Centers stressed the need for expediting the procedural formalities to complete the registration process within the stipulated time to ensure uninterrupted business without fear of unauthorised intervention, he added. Similarly, the chairman asked the officers to make all-out efforts for creating awareness among the masses to avail benefits of Intellectual Property Rights by getting their products, trade marks, industrial designs, integrated circuits and layouts registered. Regional Heads gave presentations about the performance of their respective sections and also highlighted various aspects to improve the working of the offices of IPO Pakistan.
