The Karachi Port handled 74,860 tonnes of cargo including 31,092 tonnes of import cargo, 43,768 tonnes of export cargo and 3,994 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 31,092 tonnes comprised of 15,224 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,220 tonnes of general cargo; 10,948 tonnes of bulk cargo: 997 tonnes of wheat; 5,000 tonnes of coal; 4,951 tonnes of DAP and 3,700 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 43,768 tonnes comprised of 31,296 tonnes of containerised cargo; 504 tonnes of general cargo; 10,768 tonnes of bulk cargo: 4,501 tonnes of cement and 6,267 tonnes of wheat and 1,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Four ships namely Rukia, Bunga Raya Dua, Hyundai Long Beach and Black Eagle with bulk cargo carrier, two container ships and bulk cargo carrier sailed out to sea during the reported period. Seven vessels viz APL Japan, Shayan-1, Patton-1, Orchid Ocean, Sorrelie and Botany Tribute carrying two container ships, general cargo carrier, bulk cargo carrier and three oil tankers respectively are currently at the berths.
Three ships namely Patton-1, Shayan-1 and Botany Tribute with general cargo carrier, container ships and oil tanker respectively expected to sail on Wednesday, while two vessels viz Sorrelie and Nadeem carrying oil tanker and cement carrier respectively are expected to sail on Thursday. Three vessels viz Alpine Eternity, Hanjin Berlin and Thuringia Express with naphtha and two container ships respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while three ships namely AS Ophelia, Bravo and Yossa Bhum with ethanol and two container ships respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
Two container ships namely CV UASC Dammam and CV Hanjin Portland sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely CV Nedlloyd Drake and MV Sam Eagle are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of six vessels viz CV Nedlloyd Drake, CV Hanjin Portland, CV UASC Dammam, Orient-III, Al-Deerah and MV Shinyo Ayush are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, wheat, diesel oil and coal respectively during last 24 hours.
Five ships namely Warnow Sun, Upper Court, Green line, San Francisco and ELM Glaxy carrying wheat, iron ore, cement, containers and chemicals are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of two vessels viz San Francisco and ELM Glaxy scheduled to load/offload containers and chemicals respectively are expected to take berths at Container Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
