Senior doctors still performing duties

Despite strike of young doctors in teaching hospitals, senior doctors performed duties in outdoor and emergency ward of hospitals and provided medical treatment to 5,583 patients in emergency and 7,770 in outdoor. Administration of hospitals denied the news about the deaths in emergency due to absence of doctors in emergency.
According to the figures released by the Health Department Punjab, on April 2, medical facilities were provided by the senior doctors to 372 patients in emergency, whereas 680 in outdoor of Mayo Hospital, 293 and 93 in Jinnah Hospital, 400 in Services Hospital Lahore, 200 in emergency of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and in outdoor 517, in emergency of Punjab Institute of Cardiology 1,351, in emergency of Children Hospital Lahore 351, in emergency of Lahore General Hospital 156 and in outdoor 246 in Nishtar Hospital Multan, 323 and 582 Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital 620 and 1,504, Sheikh Zaid Hospital Rahim Yar Khan 210 and 523, Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi 738 and 723, Benazir Bhutto Hospital Rawalpindi 330 and 822, District Headquarter Hospital Rawalpindi 118 and 161, in emergency of Allied Hospital Faisalabad 150 and in outdoor 556, whereas, in emergency of District Headquarter Hospital Faisalabad 70 and in outdoor 1,363.
