Deputy Convenor Rabita Committee of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Dr Farooq Sattar has assured that MQM would support and protect business community from extortionists. Talking to newsmen during a visit to motorcycle spare parts market here on Saturday, he said that the government must take appropriate measures to apprehend the criminals involved in harassing the traders and minting extortion from them.
Expressing concern over the prevailing law and order situation, he said that the situation was so grim that it compelled business community to give strike call. He urged the government to take strict action against those involved in criminal activities without taking into consideration their association with political parties.
He said the government must take all out efforts to create new jobs to engage youth but in Karachi wind is moving in other direction. He demanded of the government to reconsider recent increase in petroleum products' prices.
He said that the general public and salaried class could to afford the drastic increase in prices of essential goods as a result of cumulative impact of oil prices' increase. It is duty of the government to provide relief to masses, he added. Chairman All Pakistan Dealers and Importers of Motorcycle Spare Parts Association, Rehan Hanif said that the governor and chief minister Sindh had assured them to increase police patrolling in the area and establish police pickets.
