A US military plane crashed in western Germany on Friday though the pilot was able to eject, police in the city of Trier said. The A10 fighter jet was completely destroyed on impact in a field just hundreds of metres from houses in the village of Laufeld, witnesses said. Further details about the condition of the pilot and the cause of the crash were not yet known.
