President Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) Asghar Ali Gill, countering criticism by Supreme Court Bar Association President, Asma Jahangir against the Supreme Court, said the bar supports the apex court and all its judgements. Asghar Gill said he will confront all those elements who ever tried to make stunts against the sitting judiciary as being representative of the bar, it is his duty to stop the 'way of anti-judiciary forces'.
In a statement referring to 'assaults' made by SCBA President against some judgements of Supreme Court the other day at her press conference, Gill said Supreme Court, under chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is performing its functions and giving judgements on all cases strictly as per the sublime principles of law. "We endorse the judgements of Supreme Court and all the lawyers, especially those belonging to Punjab are the 'first shield of defence of Supreme Court'."
