PCS Officers Association ends strike: chief minister invites association

The PCS Officers Association has on Thursday ended 13-day pen-down strike after being invited by the Punjab Chief Minister for a meeting. The chief minister will meet a delegation of the Association on April 1 (today) to discuss their demands.
While addressing a press conference, Association President Rai Manzoor Nasir told the media men that it was their demand that the chief minister should take a notice of discriminatory attitude of DMG officers towards PCS officers, and after hearing the Association point of view the chief minister should take a decision on merit. "For the last 15 months we were demanding this, and the CM has now accepted to hear our grievances and then he will decide the matter on merit," he added.
He said the Association primary demand was to abolish the 1993 IPCC formula. He said that there was no pressure on them to end the strike; it would not be appropriate that we meet the CM while they were on strike. "We have voluntarily ended the strike and if our demands are not met then we can resume the strike," he added. According to him, the Cabinet Committee had accepted 11 out of the 12 demands made by the Association, but only one demand has been implemented. A deadline was given to the government to implement the decisions they agreed with the Association and only after the expiry of the deadline the PCS officers went on strike on March 21.
