Punjab Agricultural Research Board (PARB) organised a one-day training workshop for teachers and researchers of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur to promote research culture at the university. A team of the board experts led by Dr Mubarik Ali, Chief Executive Officer PARB visited Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) on special invitation of the vice chancellor, says a spokesperson of the Board, here on Wednesday.
Professor Dr Muhammad Mukhtar said that IUB has prioritised research and development activities on top to cope with the current economic and social challenges. The university has demanded Rs 500 millions from the government for this purpose as compared to the previous budget of Research & Development of Rs 3 millions only. He said that he is committed to achieve excellence in teaching and research and continuously review and develop the courses of study in accordance with the future requirements.
The chief guest of the workshop MPA Chaudhry Mumtaz Ahmed Jajja appreciated the research workshop and said that he would facilitate two research conferences on mangoes and cotton at IUB in co-ordination with the Punjab government. During technical session the senior executives of the PARB including Dr Abdul Rashid, Engr. Dr Rafiq-ur-Rehman and Dr Ahmed Saleem Akhtar gave detailed briefing.
