The meeting on the gas load shedding issue between All Pakistan CNG Association and Sui Northern Gas Company Private Limited (SNGPL) remained inconclusive. While talking to Business Recorder Chairman Supreme Council APCNG Association Ghias Abdullah Piracha said they would not observe any gas loads shedding in Punjab on coming gas holidays.
Piracha appealed to the President of Pakistan to take serious steps to resolve the issues other wise there will be a complete strike of CNG stations in Punjab for an unlimited period. Ghayas Paracha, Chairman Supreme Council All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) said that the decision was taken to oblige the powerful lobby of the industrialists. He also expressed sympathies with the CNG consumers and ordinary commuters.
"This would be very harsh for CNG vehicles and the government is not even ready to talk to us as it has broken all the promise," Paracha said and added "We have the largest number of CNG vehicles in Punjab and the gas load shedding at the CNG stations in the province is biased and unjustified for the consumers and 2,300 CNG stations."
On the other hand according to the SNGPL officials the problem of demand and supply still exists although with the improvement in weather the situation improves but there is still shortfall of around 350 mmcfd because maintenance work is still going on in Maranzia gas field adding that they are facing shortfall of 190 mmcfd because they are not getting full gas from different fields.
He stated that as the situation improves there would be no load shedding for CNG sector. He also said that they have passed on the relief to industry sector in which there was five-day gas load shedding but now there is two-day gas load shedding. Similarly, he said that there was no complaint of low pressure in the low-lying areas.
