Firdous lashes out at Chaudhry Nisar

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Firdous Aashiq Awan Wednesday lashed out at Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan asking him to play 'constructive and positive role' rather than in indulging in politics of confrontation.
Talking to media persons after inauguration of an exhibition in connection with the Pakistan Day here at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), the Minister criticised the Leader of the Opposition for his other's day remarks during the presidential address to the joint sitting of the Parliament and asked him to avoid politics of confrontation, which has caused harm to the country.
Referring to the walk out protest by opposition parties from the joint sitting of the parliament on the eve of presidential address, she accused the opposition of sending 'negative' message to the nation by staging walk out on the important constitutional event. To a question, she said that the only constitutional means to dethrone the government is to prove simple majority in the Parliament by any other political party. Referring to the claims of leader of the opposition that up to 48 percent parliamentarians stayed away to listen the Presidential address, she described it as 'baseless' propaganda and asked the PML-N to prove its majority if it can instead of making claims in TV shows.
She said that it would be a 'pity' if leader of the opposition does not consider parliamentarians belonging to Balochistan, FATA, ANP, MQM and others with independent statuses as part of the Parliament who were present during the presidential address. The Minister said that all the political parties should respect mandate of the majority of others in the Parliament. She further stated that having important constitutional slot of the leader of the opposition, Chaudhry Nisar should have played positive role, but he failed, which is unfortunate.
She also criticised the role of religious parties, saying that they did not support and appreciate the President's condemnation of the desecration of the Holy Quran by an American pastor Terry Jones in Florida. "The opposition and those who are doing politics on the name of Islam should have supported the condemnation by the President, but they preferred to stage walk out from the Parliament", she lamented.
Referring to the refusal of receiving souvenirs by some parliamentarians on the eve of Pakistan Day, the Minister said that those who refused to receive the national awards should keep in their minds that these were being given by head of the state not by chief of any political party. She further said that the parliamentarians should have exhibited unity on the Pakistan Day.
About the letter sent by Leader of the Opposition to the President in which he has rejected nomination of Justice (Retd) Deedar Hussain Shah as Chairman NAB, the Minister for Information claimed that the letter has exposed the 'real' face of the leader of the opposition before the nation, adding that on the one hand he (Chaudhry Nisar) and his party claims for paying respect to verdicts of the judiciary while on the other hand they are reluctant to respect the decision of court in the case of Raymond Davis. She further said that release of Davis was a decision of the court, adding that the PPP respects the decision, as was earlier announced.
