President Pakistan Muslim League-Q Senator Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and senior central leader Chaudhry Parvez Elahi in a strong worded message have condemned the incident where a self claimed American pastor Terry Jones supervised the burning of the Holy Quran (Nauzbillah) along with a small group of followers.
The PML-Q leaders have expressed their extreme anger and bitter resentment at this highly condemnable act. They called upon the International Community and the United Nations to take an immediate and stern action against this highly deplorable act. Since this act has greatly hurt the feelings of Muslims around the world, therefore, the strictest possible punitive action against the individuals who have committed this unforgivable crime, they said.
Commenting on the role of the US government, they said that the US government should have employed the state apparatus to prevent this most unfortunate incident. They said that the US government silence was raising a lot of questions. The PML leaders vociferously emphasised the need for the adoption of a joint and effective strategy by the Muslim nations for the protection and integrity of the Holy Quran so that no one can again dare to commit such a mischief. They called upon the Pakistani government to shed its usual expediency and play an effective part in the punishment of the individuals responsible in this highly deplorable act.
