HRW wheat bids steady

Published Updated

Hard red winter wheat basis bids were mostly steady in the US Plains on Tuesday in routine dealings. Protein premiums on railcar hard red winter wheat to and through Kansas City slid 1 to 6 cents a bushel. Dry, warm and windy weather was persisting in the central and southern US Plains.
Kansas City Board of Trade HRW wheat futures ended lower on Monday, with May off 3 cents at $8.42. The winter wheat crop in Kansas was rated just 27 percent good to excellent as of March 20, up 1 percentage point from a week ago. Condition ratings were the lowest for this time of year since 2002.
